Hi all,
As an Android owner, I was interested in playing a prezi on my Android handheld. After some twiggling, I was finally able to hack a solution to playing a prezi on Android, as you can see on this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p55Dw8...
So far I have only tried it on my Samsung Galaxy SII, I can only assume it will work on other Android hardware as well, provided it has the latest Adobe flash player installed. Results may vary, according to your hardware.
To make it work you need an app from the Android Market; don't worry, you can use the free version:
https://market.android.com/details?id...
For the correct settings, please see the youtube video.
This is an UNOFFICIAL hack by me; the hack is not in any way supported or endorsed by the prezi team. As I am an individual, I cannot support this application, you are on your own!
Feel free to post any tips or tricks in this thread or on my prezi profile page (http://prezi.com/user/mx3egq3zci8c/).
After I find a place to put it, I will publish the zipfile containing the neccessary files (and will reply to my own post containing the link).
To play MY prezi on your Android, do the following:
1) unzip the zipfile, put it somewhere on your android (tip: on the external SD card), keeping the resulting folder structure. You can use e.g. the Dropbox android client to 'get it there', but beware that all the files have to actually be on your Android to work, the standard 'download if needed' will not work.
Copying it from the Dropbox folder to another folder (keeping the folder structure) is probably a good idea!
2) download the latest Adobe flash player, AND the swf player (link above), in that order.
3) Open the swf player, navigate to the folder where the start_prezi.swf file is, choose the correct options [see youtube video] and try it out.
To play YOUR prezi:
a) replace the data folder with the data folder you get after downloading your prezi as a 'standalone' (or exporting it from prezi desktop) and unzipping the file.
Beware: make sure it has the exact same folder structure as the one from my zipfile.
b) clear the cache ('buffer') of SWF player using the settings app from your Android (if you do not do this, you will still see my prezi; somehow the swf player buffers the original files).
To be completely clear:
- UNofficial hack
- NO support
- NO guaranties it will work on your hardware
- EVERYTHING at your own risk.
- Only PLAYING a prezi, no editing, sorry!
- I am not affiliated with issess, the makers of the swf player, nor with Adobe or prezi. This is hobby work!
- Only tested on a single Android handheld: the Samsung Galaxy SII. Of course, if someone was to donate a different Android I will be happy to test it there as well ;-0
Otherwise, statements of success (or failure) welcome.
WITH REGARD TO THE LATTER: PLEASE EXPECT NO SUPPORT ON THIS FORUM for this hack: it is unofficial, I do not have the time to give support, and I cannot expect anyone else (including the prezi team) to give support.
I have been able to play different prezi's, from a very simple (only text) to a basic (see demo) to an advanced (a copy of the prezi hack by John from Skillsoft: http://prezi.com/acyzqnlcdbuj/copy-of... ) which all (!) work on my Android.
Kind regards,
Roel
