Sound uploading just fine, converting is hanging

I am tyring to add a sound to a a particular view. I am able to upload without a problem but then I see that it is "converting". It remains stuck on 1% for a few minutes. Then I get a message File type not supported
We support Images (JPEG, PNG, GIF), Videos (MPEG, AVI, WMV), Presentations (PPT, PPTX) and PDF.,  Technical details:
id: 2562 the reason is: Exception in callback

I have tried uploading a .wav file and a .ogg file from both work and at  home.
